Location: St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, 3240 Spring Road, Carlisle, PA 17013

Please be advised: It is considerate to our host organization to arrive at meetings and workshops no earlier than 15 minutes prior to meeting or workshop time. Parking is in the rear of the church. We suggest using the northern entrance to the church for safety reasons. Our meetings are held in the church (use south-side entrance) unless otherwise noted. An elevator is available for your convenience.

Monday, September 16, 7-9 pm

Program:  Welcome and an Overview of the Year
Facilitator: Barb Myers, Guild Officers, and Committee Chairs

Location: St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, Carlisle

Notes: Show and Tell our Fidget Quilts, which you may keep or donate to the Comfort Quilt Committee.  Feel free to bring other Show and Tell items that you want to share.  


October

Sunday, October 6, 2-4 pm
Program:  "Pieces of Time"
Facilitator: AnnMarie Rowland will take us along on a happy trip through time and place. She stitches together song, story, and a collection of quilts.

Notes: Bring your Show and Tell.


Monday, October 21, 7-9 pm
Program:  "Framing our own quilts and other fabric artwork"
Facilitator: Erin Claypool, a 10-year staff member of Artworks in Mechanicsburg, will walk us through how to select frames, whether to use glass or not, what kind of mats we need, ways to frame our completed items.

Location: St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, Carlisle
Notes: If you have an Orphan Block or a small quilt that Erin could use in her demo, please let Barb know. You will get the item back.


November

Saturday, November 2, 9 am-4 pm
Class:  "Paper Piecing: Feathered Star"
Facilitator: In this class, Paula Golden will go over value and color with each participant before sewing is started.  High contrast between the "feathers" and the background of the feathers is most important so that there is sparkle.

Notes: Deadline for signing up for paper pieced class is October 21st.  See Wanda Blain for a supply list.


Sunday, November 3, 2-4 pm
Program:  "Lecture and Trunk Show"
Facilitator: Paula Golden was born in southern California and grew up in Germany. Using fiber as a creative means to communicate is intrinsic to her very being.  It links her to the continuum of men and women who have stitched their lives in fiber to provide warmth and nourishment for the body and soul.  Her passion for the stories behind the quilts is a leading theme in her work.

Notes: Bring completed projects from Saturday's workshop for Show and Tell.


Monday, November 18, 7-9 pm
Program:  "Art, Quilting, Intuition, and Creativity"
Facilitator: Beth Reese has been an artist all her life, and began her quilt making journey in 1996.   Beth was a co-owner of Quiltmakers Cottage in Hershey, PA, which had the distinct honor of being named a top ten quilt shop by Quilt Sampler magazine.  Beth has taught extensively throughout the region in both quilt making and mixed media art.

December

Sunday, December 1, 2-4 pm
Program: "Boutique", "Vendors", "Christmas Brass Concert"
Facilitator: We will begin our meeting with a Brass Concert in the sanctuary, getting us in the mood for the holiday season.
