Le Tort Quilters Guild

If variety is the spice of life, then our quilting passion provides uswith plenty of spice.

At a recent retreat each of the 30 guild members was asked to say something about their special interests and experience with quilting and the variety was inspiring. One person loves appliqué and the next avoids it at all costs. Another loves putting on binding and her neighbor will do anything to find a way not to do the binding. The same goes for hand-work or machine stitching or making tops versus sandwiching and quilting tops that have been put together.

The wonderful thing about this guild – and quilters in general – is that all are all welcome regardless of our skill level, limits, likes or dislikes. I particularly like the variety in that it gives me a chance to try out new things without any sense of judgment. When I feel the need to have all my points perfect and seams an exact ¼ inch, I learn about a whole world of quilts where none of that matters. But when I do want to do things carefully and precisely, I also can indulge that part of me by learning techniques that can make me be successful there as well.

As we begin planning programs for next year this is a good time to let me hear about what your particular interests are so that we can plan workshops and programs that speak to that variety of interests and needs.
