June 2008, President's Message

L is for Learning. We learn from the guest speakers and from each other as we all strive to expand our knowledge and experience with quilting.

E is for Everybody. Everyone is welcome to our meetings and to join in the fun.

T is for Teaching. The workshops teach new ideas and skills. Our members teach when they show ‘n tell.

O is for Offerings. The guild has a lot to offer from the pizza box exchange, block-of-the-month, lectures and workshops. Also, the guild makes is own offerings to local charities through the Comfort Quilt program and raffle quilts.

R is for Resources. We have a library of books and a room full of quilters to offer advice and sources of shops, tips and tricks.

T is for Teamwork. A group of individuals dedicated to the promotion of making, collecting and preserving quilts; to support and encourage the art of quilt making.

As I finish my term as President of the guild I look back and marvel at all the wonderful things we did in the past year: A successful guilt show, a beautiful raffle quilt to raise money for support of breast cancer survivors; another equally stunning Crazy Quilt raffle; comfort quilts for the wounded soldiers, adopted children, Hospice patients, women with difficult pregnancies, adults receiving cancer treatment and Alzheimer patients; workshops and guest speakers; the Chinese Auction; Block-of-the-Month; Pizza Box exchange; quilt retreats; theme baskets; shop drawings and lots of show ‘n tell!

I want to thank each of you for your support and assistance and I wish for everyone to remember to be an inspiration and to be inspired!

Best Wishes,
Deb Lohman
